CENEWOF aims to serve the reading public by promoting professionalism and the highest ethical standards among print media practitioners and the print media industry through incentives for its workers to aspire and maintain excellence in quality journalism as well as instill a genuine sense of security and self worth through the upliftment of their economic well-being especially in times of need.
…MISSION
 
CENEWOF projects are focused in upgrading professional standards and imporivng the welfare of workers in the print media industry through the establishment of programs and services that help to address certain needs and requirements. In particular, CENEWOF established the Marcelo B. Fernan Cebu Press Center for newspaper workers, journalists and students of the discipline and provide facilities to assist in the training of practicing and aspiring print media workers as well as a venue for the free exchange of ideas between the print media industry and the other sectors of the Cebu community.
CENEWOF STORY

 

To enhance the standards of journalism, promote professionalism and ensure the welfare of workers in the print media industry, the Cebu Newspaper Workers Foundation (CENEWOF) was established in 1980 by two of Cebu’s most prominent journalists, Atty. Pachico Seares and Concepcion Gantuangco Briones. CENEWOF, a registered private-sector organization, has through the years, benefited from the involovement of prominent citizens of the Cebuano community including those with family ties to journalism. In recent years under the stewardship of the late Chief Justice and Senate President Marcelo B. Fernan, the foundation has undertaken projects that enhanced efforts to upgrade the professional standard and improve the welfare of workers in the print media industry.

Our CENTER

Serves as a venue for use by Cebu's print media workers and future members of the industry, it is also available for functions of othe sectors of the community.
